Describe your topic
Originially a book by Gaston Leroux, published in 1911, The Phantom of the Opera is now a widespread phenomenon. The book has been turned into dozens of films, including movies (ranging in casts composed of everyone from Lon Chaney to Herbert Lom), musicals (most notably the Andrew Lloyd Webber edition), and parodies. It's also inspired the creation of dozens of spin-offs and mainstream films.
Among these parodies and spin-offs: Brian de Palma's 1974 cult film, Phantom of the Paradise; the French film Eyes Without a Face (originally Yeux Sans Las Visage); the Vincent Price horror film (believe to have inspired the SAW film franchise), The Abominable Doctor Phibes; and Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical sequel, Love Never Dies!
